Loss of child care subsidies will cost more for the long run." in Southern Nevada, the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services on Jan. 4 announced that increased demand for the state's Child Care and Development Program has exceeded available funding. The mission of the Las Vegas Clark County Urban League is to “Empower communities and ensure equal opportunity for Low-Income People”.  The Agency, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, was  founded in 2003 as an affiliate of the National Urban League the premier social service and civil rights organization in the United States of America.

In 2006 the Urban League was designated as the Community Action Agency (CAA) for Clark County.  As the CAA, the Urban League has experienced strong, strategic-driven growth by collaborating with a diverse network of stakeholders to provide quality programs and services.

In collaboration with a vast network of public and private partners, The Las Vegas Urban League provides the following programs and services that enrich the lives of individuals and families:

  • 21st Century Community Learning Centers
  • Read and Rise Literacy Program
  • Martin Luther King Senior Center, Nutrition, Transportation, and Recreation
  • WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Centers
  • Dr. William U. Pearson Community Center
  • Re-Integration of Ex-Offenders Program
  • Weatherization Assistance Program
  • BTOP–Nevada Public Computer Centers
  • Supportive Services for Veteran Families
  • Child Care Subsidy Program
  • Housing Rehabilitation Program
