ABOUT US
Established in 2001, and becoming an official affiliate in 2004, the mission of the Las Vegas-Clark County Urban League is to eliminate racial discrimination and segregation and to work for the achievement of equal opportunity and parity for African Americans, other minorities and the poor in every phase of American life. Today, the League’s work is focused in three primary areas: education, economic development and community empowerment.

The Las Vegas-Clark County Urban League strives to empower, enable and assist African Americans, other people of color, and disadvantaged individuals in becoming self-sufficient through public advocacy, providing services and developing strong business and community partnerships.

As an active partner, leader and catalyst we will assist African American, other minority groups and the disadvantaged attain social and economic equality and stability through direct services and advocacy.

National Urban League
Founded in 1910, the National Urban League is the premier social service and civil rights organization in America. The League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan community-based organization headquartered in New York City, with 105 affiliates in 34 states and the District of Columbia. The mission of the National Urban League is to assist African-Americans in the achievement of social and economic equality. The League implements its mission through advocacy, bridge building, program services and research.

The National Urban League is governed by an interracial Board of Trustees composed of outstanding men and women from the professional, business, labor, civic and religious communities. Another hallmark of the League is its highly trained professional staff at the national and local levels.

The National Urban League has sought to emphasize greater reliance on the unique resources and strengths of the African-American community to find solutions to its won problems. To accomplish this, the League’s approach as been to fully utilize the tools of advocacy, research, program service and bridge building. The result has been an organization with strong roots in the community, which serves more than a million individuals each year.
